Our dependence on battery storage of electricity has grown dramatically now that wireless devices are commonplace. Having completed the first round, I thought it would be good to do an experiment that I had wanted to do with the SMU during the first round review but did not have the time, hence this weekend project. I haven’t had the time to put up the full story in an element14 blog post just yet, but so far, the signs are good. Regardless, I have the unit back in my hands and have been running extensive verification experiments since its return. The process was not helped by the issues surrounding COVID-19 and the customs hassles that come with international shipment of expensive items. Unfortunately, during the review process, an issue was found with the unit that necessitated a return to a repair centre for repair and recalibration. As one of the lucky recipients of a Keithley 2450 SourceMeter as part of the element14 RoadTest program, I had the opportunity to review this rather precise and versatile source-measurement unit.
